Hares Ear Hopper Barbless

The Hares Ear Hopper Barbless is a dependable, buoyant terrestrial dry fly with a natural, muted profile. It is designed for times when trout are looking for larger land-bred insects such as small crane flies, heather flies and other wind-blown terrestrials rather than a precise aquatic hatch.

Fish it close to banks, beneath overhanging vegetation or along wind lanes on stillwaters. On rivers, allow it to drift without drag and watch for confident, sometimes splashy rises. The hare's-ear body gives a softer, more natural impression than brightly coloured hopper patterns, making it useful in clear water or when fish have seen plenty of flies. Keep your eyes on the fly - the rise can be fast, confident and wonderfully decisive.
